Pete...

Pete was forever not being happy behind a fence. He would always find a place to dig out, so we began letting him run free in our yard and pasture. He would dig under the fence going out of our yard and head for the pasture across the street where there are cows, coyotes, wild hogs and who knows what else. Well, this morning he hit the road and around noon he came limping home dragging one of his back legs. HFR came in and said call the vet I'm taking Pete in, he's been hurt. He gets to the vet's office and our vet is out for the rest of the week but they called another vet in Wills Point. HFR headed there. The vet looked Pete over and said this isn't good. They did several x-rays and told HRF that Pete would have to have multiple surgeries to fix the damage. He would have to have a hip repair, a knee repair and I don't know what all. The vet said he would live with pain the rest of his life. We had to let him go. I'm sure going to miss him. He had a sweet personality and was a very busy guy!

Freeze is hard on flowers

Back on February 11, 2009 I had the prettiest tree in my front yard.

This morning or maybe I should say over night we had temperatures in the 20's and now all the blooms are very sad looking.

Speaking of beauties. Look at these little beauties. They are all growing like weeds and doing very well.

Kasie, their momma is doing good as well. She has kind of taken a liking to being in the house. I just hope she doesn't get to acustomed to it because it won't be long before they are back to their backyard kennel. She has always been an outside dog and is not house broke, so you really have to watch her. Believe it or not she is really doing quite well.

Their daddy Pete has returned to his old self after his trip to see Dr. Kauble. It slowed him down for a day or 2 but he's back!!! We decided that sixteen children will be enough. This was his 2nd litter to father.

Pete has his appointment today

Between Pete and Kasie they have produced some beautiful puppies but 16 is enough. I get too attached!!! Today Pete is going to see Dr. Kauble.

As we leave the house Pete looks out the rear window with wonder in his eyes. Wondering where he is going.

I tried to reassure him that this is what's best for him, Kasie and me. I'm not sure he agreed though. We pick him up today between 3:00pm and 4:00pm. I hope he has as easy a time with this as Ike did. Ike never missed a beat...

UPDATE....
Pete got home about 3:50pm. He's moving a little slow, not his normal hyperactive self.

Our fence is complete!!

They started putting up the fence fabric this morning.
The 2 guys were pretty fast all things considered. They had losts of things to do that I would have never thought about. I'm glad they were doing it instead of me.

Bo really loves the puppies. He watches over them and plays with them. It just amazes me how good he is with them inspite of his size.

It got kind of late on me before I realized that I had not taken a picture of the gate that goes into the back yard. We worked really hard to day because after the fence guys left we proceeded to take down the old fence. Kasie, Bo, Pete and the puppies all like their new larger back yard.

I have tried and tried...

Trying to get a picture of a hummingbird is hard for me. They are so fast.

Even Pete was amazed at the hummingbirds this morning.
