Jake's back...

Jake's back and he did just fine. He's moving a little slow but overall he's doing good.

It was really kinda funny this morning after we had taken Jake to the vet; Kasie, his momma began to whine and cry for the longest time. When we came back we had to let her in to see him because of her whining. Once she checked him out she went on about her business with no more whining and crying. Kinda strange!!

My last puppy "Jake"

My little boy puppy Jake had to go to the vet today. He is such a pretty dog to me but I must say they are all pretty to me. I guess I am focusing on Jake today because he is getting neutered today.

Saturday, June 20th - Kennel Cleaning

HFR says that we can't start on the new dog kennel that will have a concrete floor in it till we get the drain lines fixed for the house. The drain line was under the existing kennel, so today we cleaned and moved the existing kennel over to the left 1 kennels length. It sure looks better. While rearranging and moving the kennel we found that we had a whole city of mice living under the dog house. Let me tell you that we have some mouse chasing and catching beagles. The last count I had was somewhere between 30 & 40 mice that those beagles caught.

Well our last puppy left today.

Bandy, our last little girl puppy left today. She has a new family in Marquez, TX. I met this little girl's mom in Centerville, TX the other day when I was delivering another puppy. I'm not a very good salesperson when it comes to my puppies but when people approach me I figure they want them. I talk to the Nicolette for a good while and she asked for our phone number and told me she would be at our house on Sunday afternoon. Lo and behold, she did it! Without a doubt she wanted Bandy. Bandy will have other 3 other canine friends, a new family that loves her already and 125 acres; wow exactly what a little beagle dog loves.

I was totally surprized when they told me this little girls name, it is the same as one of my granddaughters and they are the same age. How about that!

We now have a six pack of beagles

This is Jake and

this is Tinkerbelle. This will be the end of our beagle line. Bo came to us neutered then we had Ike neutered and Jake will be visiting Dr. Kauble within the next few months. We had just had Pete neutered when he got hurt had had to be put down. I sure miss Pete but he sure fathered some pretty puppies.

Don't forget we have Kasie our 1st beagle, then Bo who we got as a companion for Kasie, then Ike and Annabelle who are brother & sister (Kasie is their mother).

Pete...

Pete was forever not being happy behind a fence. He would always find a place to dig out, so we began letting him run free in our yard and pasture. He would dig under the fence going out of our yard and head for the pasture across the street where there are cows, coyotes, wild hogs and who knows what else. Well, this morning he hit the road and around noon he came limping home dragging one of his back legs. HFR came in and said call the vet I'm taking Pete in, he's been hurt. He gets to the vet's office and our vet is out for the rest of the week but they called another vet in Wills Point. HFR headed there. The vet looked Pete over and said this isn't good. They did several x-rays and told HRF that Pete would have to have multiple surgeries to fix the damage. He would have to have a hip repair, a knee repair and I don't know what all. The vet said he would live with pain the rest of his life. We had to let him go. I'm sure going to miss him. He had a sweet personality and was a very busy guy!

Freeze is hard on flowers

Back on February 11, 2009 I had the prettiest tree in my front yard.

This morning or maybe I should say over night we had temperatures in the 20's and now all the blooms are very sad looking.

Speaking of beauties. Look at these little beauties. They are all growing like weeds and doing very well.

Kasie, their momma is doing good as well. She has kind of taken a liking to being in the house. I just hope she doesn't get to acustomed to it because it won't be long before they are back to their backyard kennel. She has always been an outside dog and is not house broke, so you really have to watch her. Believe it or not she is really doing quite well.

Their daddy Pete has returned to his old self after his trip to see Dr. Kauble. It slowed him down for a day or 2 but he's back!!! We decided that sixteen children will be enough. This was his 2nd litter to father.

Pete has his appointment today

Between Pete and Kasie they have produced some beautiful puppies but 16 is enough. I get too attached!!! Today Pete is going to see Dr. Kauble.

As we leave the house Pete looks out the rear window with wonder in his eyes. Wondering where he is going.

I tried to reassure him that this is what's best for him, Kasie and me. I'm not sure he agreed though. We pick him up today between 3:00pm and 4:00pm. I hope he has as easy a time with this as Ike did. Ike never missed a beat...

UPDATE....
Pete got home about 3:50pm. He's moving a little slow, not his normal hyperactive self.

Update on the Puppies

Kasie went outside today for doggie necessities so I got a chance to pick up the puppies to see what we have. There are 4 girls and 4 boys and I don't believe there is a runt in the litter.

Kasie is a great momma!

Kasie's babies

This is the time when I saw what I believe to be the last puppy born. I'll let you know for sure later. It's about 6:25pm now, so there haven't been any puppies born in about 2 hours.

Kasie is really a good momma! Oh, I forgot to tell you there are 8 again...

This will be the last 8 though, Pete has an appointment Wednesday with Dr. Kauble.

Kasie is in labor!

Stay tuned...

I forgot to post a picture of Little Bit & her new owner

I went by to see my Aunt & Uncle for a few minutes today and got to see Little Bit. She was doing quite well as you can see. Uncle Shelby had just taken Little Bit for a walk with him.

Birdie & Sadie

Sadie & Birdie went to their new home to live with Chad, Noah, Whitney, Jesse, Ricky, Gendy & Rudy.

Chad did a great job of getting things ready for their arrival. I believe his mother helped with some last minute difficulties (the dog house was bigger than the door). They solved the problem and the puppies have a very nice sleeping kennel. Now, these little beagles will test the fence lines, they will find a hole if there is one!! They are very curious little dogs.

I still need to get pictures with their new owners.

I think our dogs and cats have intergrated...

I know that all who know us will find it hard to believe that after 2 years of living here that we finally have all but one box off the shop floor. They have been unpacked or put in storage in the loft of the shop. Well, the one box on the floor had signs of mice making it their new home. I don't mind them living somewhere else but not at my house. We called Kasie, our gopher, mole & mouse hunting dog to check out the box. When she got into the box everyone else came to see what she was doing. So as you can see; they are all best of friends; Bo, Dixie, Jigs, Kasie & Pete. No, you don't see Pete because he's out doing what an ADHD dog does best; RUN, SNIFF, RUN, SNIFF and RUN some more.

Our fence is complete!!

They started putting up the fence fabric this morning.
The 2 guys were pretty fast all things considered. They had losts of things to do that I would have never thought about. I'm glad they were doing it instead of me.

Bo really loves the puppies. He watches over them and plays with them. It just amazes me how good he is with them inspite of his size.

It got kind of late on me before I realized that I had not taken a picture of the gate that goes into the back yard. We worked really hard to day because after the fence guys left we proceeded to take down the old fence. Kasie, Bo, Pete and the puppies all like their new larger back yard.
